A Silver Lining Somewhere

Today was a crap day.

The 16 month old has been sleeping like an infant for about two weeks. And dreams of starting to wean are quickly disappearing in my rear view.

I forgot how lack of sleep can make you crazy. Please tell me it’s just a growth spurt and we’ll be sleeping through the night again soon!! Any inklings of a third are quickly fading.

My Little Personalities

One of the wonders of being a parent is watching personalities develop. Our two kids could not be more different.

My daughter has been stubborn since the day she was born. She put me through 22 hours of labor only to end in a cesarean because the cord was wrapped around her neck (I know, likely not her fault). Continue reading

Let’s Read About Me (Review)

Disclosure: I received a Let’s Read About Me book as a gift with the option to write a review. All opinions in this post, like my others, are my own.

You may remember from a post I wrote a while back about number two getting left out. One way my son has missed out on some extra stellar parenting is he doesn’t have a baby book. Well, that’s not completely true, we own a baby book for him, there’s just nothing in it. Continue reading

Pumpkin Bread

After a full day of slaving away over pumpkins and a blender, my sister Shannon, and my cousin Kelly had some beautiful homemade pumpkin puree. It really was a sight to behold. I even got to try the tasty pumpkin seeds. And after I nabbed my sister around six, rumor has it that my cousin was up and working another three hours to finish what she had started.

I was one of the lucky ones to get a jar and I was not going to let it go to waste. I wanted some pumpkin bread now! Continue reading

Why Do We Let Them?

As parents, we do everything for our kids. We want them to learn how to be independent, do things for themselves and others, sure.

But if they want something done, and they can’t physically do it, we’re right there to take care of it.

We feed them, clothe them, bathe them, and wipe up their poop. (Wherever it may be. Ideally? In the diaper. Even better? In the toilet so we just have to flush. I’m still waiting for that very special day…) Continue reading

Forced Down Time

Everyday life as a mom is not easy. You have to watch and/or entertain the kids, tidy up (if you actually clean with cleaners everyday, you’re my hero), and you “get” to cook all day long.

Sure, you get your escapes here and there. Facebook, Twitter, a sip of luke warm coffee. Then it’s back to it.

House Hunting with Kids

We are off on a new adventure! We sold our house and now we get to look for a new one!

So far we have gone searching once and we saw 2.5 houses. I would love to say that it was a fun day filled with hope and excitement, topped off with plans of what we’ll put where.

Not so much. Aside from each place we looked at being a complete disaster, I was unprepared. We left the house thinking we were only going to see two houses in the morning, then we would be home for lunch. The day ended up being a bit longer than expected. With two young children.

Here are some things I wish we had done differently, or rather, here are things I will do next time. Continue reading
